MISSION:
Heal Integrative Veterinary Medicine’s mission is to maintain a high quality life for mostly senior dogs and cats with mobility issues, chronic illness or injury so they can live longer and happier lives. We fulfill our mission by offering integrative options for veterinary care.
FOUNDER:
Dr. Carrie Turner, DVM (IL 2002), CVA (Chi), CCRT (CRI) founded Heal Integrative Veterinary Medicine in 2016 to provide innovative and compassionate holistic health and wellness options for dogs and cats.. She combines Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM), canine rehabilitation therapy, and her training as a conventional Western veterinarian for a natural path to health.
After several years as a veterinarian using conventional practice, she realized that Western medicine could be enhanced by offering more options for animals with chronic illness and mobility decline. She made it her goal to create a practice that embraced this population of senior animals, providing pet parents with a way to help their beloved aging and injured pets through integrative modalities.
LOCATION & OFFICE:

Heal Integrative Veterinary Practice was founded in 2016 in its present office location on 290 Kingsbury Grade, Suite 23 Stateline, Nevada. Nevada is a business-friendly state where licenses, red-tape, and cost is minimal and easily navigated. A Nevada veterinary license is easy to obtain. Nevada is also PT-friendly where, unlike California, PTs can work in the veterinary field unsupervised. If you choose to live in Nevada, there is no state income tax.

Stateline, Douglas County, Nevada and is part of both the larger lake community of South Lake Tahoe, California and the Valley communities of Minden and Gardnerville, Nevada. Kingsbury Grade, a 9-mile stretch of a mountain pass, joins the Lake and Valley communities. This bi-state community at Lake Tahoe is a spectacular place to live and work. It is a unique environment surrounded by mountains and beautiful Lake Tahoe, also home to the world-class Heavenly Ski resort.
Tahoe is an animal-loving, generous, small town, and family-oriented community. South Tahoe and Douglas County have a high per capita pet spending which supports four pet stores and five vet hospitals in a small community of 26,680. It is a dog friendly place surrounded by public lands and beaches where dogs are welcome. A Tahoe dog’s life is a good life. Year round outdoor activities keep locals and tourists very busy. The schools are great and it is considered a safe place to raise kids. Douglas County’s Lake and Valley community both have a hometown feel with lots of outdoor recreation opportunities throughout the Eastern Sierra Nevada and high desert. The economic base is a diverse mix of high tech, recreation, ranchers, gaming, and small businesses.
The office is approximately 855 square feet and includes an office entryway, separate areas for rehabilitation, acupuncture, water therapy and kitchen. The rehab space is conveniently separated from the aqua therapy area so that multiple therapies can occur at once. The aquatics room contains a Hudson AquaPaws Underwater Treadmill atop an attractive polished and sealed concrete floor, with high traction Amorim sports flooring in the main area. A third cozy and quiet therapy room provides a perfect space for acupuncture. A small kitchen area houses a lab/pharmacy area, sink, microwave, refrigerator/freezer, and ample cabinet space. Bathrooms are in common space a short distance down the common hallway. Several windows in the office allow natural light and summer breezes. The next closest full-service rehabilitation center is 60 miles away at a specialty hospital in Reno.
